Health apps and privacy

The confidentiality of medical file of patients is a constant concern in the medical community. Data that are stored directly on a mobile phone or on a tablet can be easily accessible in case of theft or piracy.

According to a CBC news article, there are few ways to pay attention to this issue: check the way the data are are stored and encrypted, make sure that each access is secured by a password and know how to retrieve data from a mobile application if it doesn’t exist anymore.

The American food and drug Administration (FDA) begins to investigate mobile applications which fail to comply with the confidentiality of the data.In the future, mobile applications for health may be designed following a more drastic legislation.
