Interaction design maps the way users interact with a product or a service.

  • Design method is based on established and accepted usability principles.  
  • User centered interaction design methodology integrates principles from system design human factors, cognitive psychology (perception, memory, learning, needs, motivations) and task analysis.  
  • Interaction design takes context of use, mental pre-conceptions, screen layouts, visual/sonic/haptic metaphors, etc. into account.
  • User-centered design methodologies are documented in international standards (ISO 13407 and ISO 9241).  Several key principles to consider:
  • Is the system useful?
  • Is it user friendly and easy to remember?
  • Is it reliable?
  • Is it pleasant to use?

When to use:

At any time from the beginning to the end of a project.
